What do you get when you combine crosswords with Wordle? Crosswordle!

The colors follow regular Wordle rules; green letters are correct and in the correct column, and yellow letters are correct, but need to be moved to another column. Unshaded letters are not in the final word. Solve the top grid to figure out the bottom row!

Rows Garden Mini (Vowelless) #2

Download: JPZ PDF

After solving Paolo Pasco’s latest vowelless puzzle for Outside the Box Puzzles, I started thinking about different variety puzzle types that could be combined with vowelless puzzles - variety variety puzzles, if you will. This Rows Garden Vowelless arose as a result.

Normally, there are a few difficulty choices when solving both vowelless and Rows Garden puzzles, e.g. whether enumerations are included, or whether you’re told where each of the bloom clues go. I think that with the combination of puzzle types here, the only remotely pleasant solving experience is with full enumerations and known bloom locations. But if you’re really interested in challenging yourself and want to try a harder version, please reach out and let me know what format you’d like!

Crossword #2 - Gunnin' For That #1 Spot

Here’s a silly themed crossword I wrote for a few High School Musical fans. The theme is a little bit tricky, so the cluing should be on the easier side. Hopefully there’s something here to enjoy whether or not you consider yourself a fan!

Crossword #1 - Elements of Cooking (with Dana Fenson)

Download: PUZ PDF

This puzzle contains spoilers for today’s Universal Crossword (August 29th, 2020), so if you haven’t solved that already, you should solve that first!

Dana and I submitted this grid to Universal Crosswords back in March, but found out (in a very gracious reply) that we had been scooped on the theme by a couple months. Now that the puzzle, by Christopher Adams, has been published, we figured we may as well clue the grid and share it as a learning exercise. Of course, the published puzzle is far more polished - I particularly like the grid pattern and the fact that it includes the full name of the theme subject.

We hope you enjoy, even if the theme isn’t a new one!

Rows Garden Mini #1

Download: JPZ PDF (Easier) PDF (Harder)

This is my first attempt at filling a more challenging variety grid type; let me know if you have any feedback! There are two versions of the PDF - in the easier one (and in the JPZ and applet), you’re given the location of each bloom. In the harder one, you’re only given the clues and will have to figure out the locations yourselves. The PDFs aren’t the best quality; hoping to spend some time to polish them across the site soon.
